Noise Mapping
Noise mapping provides a graphic visual representation of the noise levels that workers are exposed to on the factory floor or at a worksite. Details from the sound level survey are entered into the specialty software and the data is incorporated with a CAD drawing or scan of layout.
Worker stations can be placed onto the drawing, and by combining time on job with noise exposure levels, accurate dose information is computed. The mapping software even takes into account the effects of using hearing protection.
Noise mapping provides an excellent visual aid to be used for hearing conservation training programs. The old adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” is true. After viewing a colourful picture of the risk zones, workers have a new perspective on workplace noise and risks related to noise exposure.
