Sound Level Surveys

Sound level surveys are custom designed and results checked by audiologist.

We use an integrated sound level meter with octave band sampling. The octave band feature allows for noise levels to be measured per frequency. Knowing the frequencies helps in the selection process when choosing the proper type of hearing protection. The volume of noise at each frequency varies, so the hearing protection choices can vary as well.

Our sound level pressure meter is Quest brand the recognized leader for industrial testing equipment in North America.

Knowing the sound level at each frequency is also important when reviewing audiograms. Consider that if a tool puts out its highest volume at 4000 khz and the audiogram shows hearing loss at 4000 khz the likelihood of him/her using their hearing protection is much greater.

Sound level surveys are done during normal working conditions when sound levels are consistent with normal operations.

A sound level report with recommendations for engineered solutions is provided after sound level surveys are analyzed. This report is also an important part of the training process as it outlines the specific risks faced by each worker.
